In-School ABA Therapy

At Stepping Stone ABA Therapy, we can provide ABA therapy in your child's school setting when it is clinically appropriate and beneficial for their individual needs. Supporting children in the environments where they learn and interact with others allows us to help them build meaningful skills that carry over into their everyday routines. You may hear our school-based services referred to by older terms such as "Wraparound" or "TSS." Today, these services are known as Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) services.

Our In-School ABA Therapy services are thoughtfully designed for children with autism and other developmental disabilities who benefit from individualized support in the familiar environment of their school. By providing therapy where children naturally learn, socialize, and grow, we help them build meaningful skills with confidence and consistency.

How to Start the Services?

In-School ABA Services

Your child's Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) will work alongside them during the school day, providing individualized support to help them achieve their unique goals. Every BHT is guided and supervised by an experienced ABA Supervisor, ensuring that your child receives high-quality, personalized care every step of the way. Because every child has different strengths and challenges, the schedule and intensity of In-School ABA Therapy are tailored to each child's individual needs. After assessing your child's school environment, the ABA Supervisor will determine when support will be most beneficial. For some children, extra support during morning routines or circle time can make a big difference, while others may benefit most during lunch, recess, transitions, or other parts of the school day. We work closely with teachers and school staff to coordinate services so your child receives support when they need it most. For many of our elementary-aged clients, therapy doesn't have to end when the school day does. Families who qualify can continue ABA Therapy at our center after school, on school holidays, and during the summer months. This continuity of care helps children continue building important skills, maintain the progress they've made, and reduce the likelihood of skill regression during breaks from school.

Classroom Communication & Participation

We focus on helping students communicate effectively with teachers and peers, follow directions, ask for help, and participate in classroom activities. Strategies may include visual supports, prompting, and reinforcement to increase engagement and reduce frustration.

Peer Social Skills

We support students in building friendships and positive peer interactions during class, group work, and unstructured times such as lunch or recess. Goals may include sharing, turn-taking, joining play, and responding appropriately to social cues.

Our in-school Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) program is designed to support students directly in their classroom and school environment. We collaborate closely with teachers, school staff, and families to build skills that help students participate more successfully in their school day, follow routines, and access learning. Services are individualized based on each student’s needs and are delivered in a way that fits naturally into the school setting.

School Routines & Independence

Therapy targets skills that help students move more independently through their school day—such as transitioning between activities, organizing materials, following schedules, and completing classwork with fewer prompts.

Behavior Support Plans (BSP)

Working together with school teams and families, we develop behavior support plans that address challenging behaviors in the classroom. Plans focus on understanding why behaviors occur, teaching more appropriate replacement skills, and creating consistent supports across school and home whenever possible.
