STEP 04

Someone from our office will send you an intake packet with forms to complete and request that you send us a Written Order for ABA Services from an existing behavioral health or physical health provider that your child has seen within the last 6 months recommending ABA Therapy. Your child’s doctor may state that they do not know what to put on their written order form; if this is the case, please reach out to us and we will give you a sample Written Order to provide to your doctor. Along with the Written Order, we also will require a copy of the most recent diagnostic report which states your child’s diagnosis and what assessment measures were used to determine that diagnosis. Most insurances require that your child is re-evaluated at least every 2 years by a qualified psychologist or developmental pediatrician, so keep this in mind as you are getting paperwork together.

Therapy Begins

Once we receive all required documentation, we will assign your child to an ABA Supervisor and they will reach out to schedule the Initial ABA Assessment, which is a 3-4 week long period, consisting of at least 3 observations of the child in various settings and situations. Your child's ABA Supervisor will utilize an evidence-based ABA assessment as part of our IBHS Assessment process to determine current skills/abilities and needs, including the Verbal Behavior Milestones and Placement Program (VB-MAPP), the Assessment of Functional Living Skills (AFLS), PEAK, and the Essential for Living (EFL). In addition, we will conduct a functional behavior analysis (FBA) to determine the causes of maladaptive behaviors and develop a behavior intervention plan that fits your needs, while building upon or teaching more appropriate behaviors.

The assessment will determine if your child meets the medical necessity for ABA therapy, and give the ABA Supervisor a starting point for what skills and goals would be beneficial to target. They will meet with you to review the assessment and treatment recommendations, and if everyone is in agreement to the intensity of hours, service provider types, and location of services, will match your child with BHTs that match the needs of your child.

CLINICAL NOTE

ABA services typically start within 15 days following the completion of the ABA Assessment, but in some cases, your child may only receive ABA Supervisor's services (BC-ABA or BCBA) until a Behavior Health Technician (BHT) is available. In some less intensive cases, a client may not require a BHT to provide direct therapy, but an ABA Supervisor services are all that is needed to work with the parents and the client. All of our ABA Services require parent/caregiver involvement in the forms of check-in meetings and parent trainings.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the initial assessment involve?

The initial assessment is a comprehensive evaluation where our Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) observes your child, interviews caregivers, and reviews records to create a personalized treatment plan aligned with your family's unique goals.

What are the steps to getting started with ABA therapy?

The process begins with an inquiry where we confirm availability and insurance coverage. This is followed by a intake packet, clinical evaluation/assessment, and finally, sessions tailored to your child's developmental journey.

What funding sources are required for services?

We accept insurance from many major providers. Our team will verify your benefits and assist with any necessary authorizations. In some cases, we also work with families seeking out-of-network benefits or alternative funding strategies.

Where are therapy services provided?

We offer both home-based and school-based individual ABA therapy. This ensures your child receives consistent, neurodiversity-affirming support in the environments where they live, learn, and grow.

What is the waiting list time for services?

Wait times can vary based on your specific location and clinical needs. Once your inquiry is received and insurance verified, we strive to move through the intake process quickly, often starting therapy within 2-4 weeks of assessment approval.
